12th May 2026

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) play a vital role in strengthening both the UK economy and the NHS, bringing innovation and specialist expertise to the health sector.

The Carbon 10 Group is proud to have supported the development of the new government-backed guide, “Doing business with the health sector: a guide for buyers and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)” The publication showcases BCAS Biomedical’s (part of The Carbon 10 group) partnership with Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust, while ensuring SME perspectives are meaningfully represented across the wider health system.

Developed with input from the NHS SME Advisory Board, the guide marks a major step forward in simplifying engagement with the NHS. It is designed to help procurement teams more easily access high-quality, specialist solutions, while giving SMEs clearer direction on navigating what can often be a complex route to market.

This milestone was also acknowledged by Eamon van der Flier, Managing Director of Carbon 10 Group, in a recent LinkedIn post. Reflecting on his time serving on the NHS SME Advisory Board, Eamon highlighted the vital role SMEs play in delivering value to both the UK economy and the NHS, recognising the collaborative effort across the health sector that has enabled the guide to come to fruition.

This contribution reinforces the growing importance of SMEs in driving innovation and value across the NHS, and demonstrates how collaboration between public sector organisations and industry can lead to meaningful, system-wide improvements.
